About our Candles

I’ve been asked by a lot of people why our candles are a little more expensive than others. So I wanted to take a moment to explain, our candles are made from 100% soy wax, unlike the big brand candles that are made from praffin wax which most people don’t know is a low grade plastic with very little wax. Soy wax is much more expensive to buy than praffin so naturally our candles will cost a little more. But in return you get a clean burn candle that produces no soot or chemicals and is safe to burn inside. Our wicks are also 100% cotton, zinc and lead free. So next time your at the store looking at candles for a cheaper price just remember you can spend a little bit more and know you are not only supporting small business but not burning chemicals in your home!

My name is Skylar, and I’m the owner of J&S Candles. My love for candles started at a young age, watching and helping my grandma create them by hand. Over the years, I’ve grown to appreciate the science of scent blending and the endless possibilities that come with it. My wife, Julie, is what I like to call our “Creative Director.” She designs all our labels and manages the social media side of the business. Our daughter, Addalyn, proudly serves as our “Quality Assurance Specialist”—she smells everything we make and is the first to tell us if a scent will be a hit!
